Embarking on a big construction project is quite a daunting task and it would be so easy jus to let the architect and designer have their way with it. But if you chime on the design process, you could have a big hand at creating a truly great home. For most of us who really can’t visualise what we really want, your designer or architect can help you with ideas or show you different designs that you could get inspiration from.
Most people would design from the outside in, visualising what the exterior would look like and then moulding the interior based on the exterior design. But consider this, you will be seeing the interior of your home 90% of the time, so sometimes it’s more convenient to design the interior first and then forming the exterior design based on all the rooms that you would want.
Consider how you will use the living spaces of your home, how many people will be living in it, if you need a library or a home office. When you have considered the layout and sizes of your interior living spaces, you can mould your exterior to fit the interior layout. This is just an alternative approach to design and you are in no means required to follow it.
