Light Wood Framed Homes

In the Philippines, it is noticeable that majority of the houses in the provinces are made up of light wood framed construction. Light wood framed homes are left over from Spanish-American era architecture, those days’ wood was relatively cheap and easily sourced.

Nowadays due to laws limiting the cutting of trees, wood prices have drastically increased, leading to cement being the modern and cheaper as well as the preferred construction material.

  2. It is not strong enough to resist major wind events such as typhoons.
  3. Maintenance and upkeep cost are higher especially with older Light wood framed homes.
